| Annual PACK-A-THON at Opportunity Enterprises Successful Event for Community |
Opportunity Enterprises' 2008 PACK-A-THON was on Saturday, September 27 and over the course of seven hours, over 750 community volunteers helped stuff 43,000 race packets for the runners of the 2008 Bank of America Chicago Marathon.
"Individuals and groups that volunteer understand the benefit that our clients receive because of their effort and support at the PACK-A-THON. For the OE staff, it is refreshing and invigorating to have that kind of reinforcement from the community in seeing people partner with us in our work and our mission of supporting individuals with disabilities," said Suzy Kull, Volunteer Coordinator for Opportunity Enterprises. "The PACK-A-THON has become a phenomenon. In and of itself the event is very much fun, however the people that volunteer have a goodness within them that is outwardly demonstrated."
Volunteers are encouraged to participate as individuals or as part of a group. The PACK-A-THON provides an ideal service opportunity for school or church groups, service clubs, businesses or sports teams. For more information on volunteering at Opportunity Enterprises, please contact Suzy Kull at 464-9621 ext. 640 or suzy.kull@oppent.org.
