Pre-Employment Transition Services

Explore potential career paths!

Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS)  offers qualifying students the opportunity to plan and prepare for life after high school.

Students ages 14-22 who have an IEP, 504, or other qualifying medical note may participate in this state program offered through OE’s JobSource Division.

Pre-ETS services are provided by a Student Career Advisor during school hours. With the right support, every student has the opportunity to begin a productive and meaningful life after high school.

Pre-Employment Transition Services

  • Participate in ability surveys and transition assessments
  • Review career websites
  • Complete high-school based courses on career choices

  • Explore a wide range of career pathways (agriculture, manufacturing, etc.)
  • Receive counseling on postsecondary training opportunities including community colleges, universities, trade/technical schools, etc.
  • Receive counseling to support a smooth transition from high school to post-secondary education (documenting and advocating for accommodations, identifying financial aid options, etc.)

  • Learn about self-awareness, disability disclosure, and requesting accommodations
  • Develop an understanding of rights, responsibilities, and self-determination
  • Receive mentoring, including the mentorship of peers

  • Complete employability skills training 
  • Work on social/interpersonal skills (communication, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution, empathy, professionalism, etc.)
  • Practice independent living skills (good hygiene, money management, using transportation, time management, using technology and assistive technology, appropriate dress and behavior, etc.).

  • Get started on a career path with work experience in the community
  • Participate in volunteer work
  • Secure job shadow opportunities, short or long-term internships, apprenticeships, and on the job training
  • Benefit from employer mentoring activities

Transition Summer Program

Enjoy an exciting range of volunteer work-based learning experiences in retail, industrial, food service, customer service, and custodial services.

Develop financial literacy skills and participate in fun life skills activities!
