Social Groups

OE’s social groups provide ongoing opportunities for adults with disabilities to build relationships, stay active in the community, and experience the rewarding joy of giving back to our friends and neighbors.

OE’s Self‑Advocates group is led by individuals with disabilities who are dedicated to strengthening their voices and supporting one another. The group offers a respectful, inclusive environment where members can share experiences, expand their understanding of their rights, and build the skills needed to advocate for their needs and preferences across a variety of settings.

Through a focus on confidence, independence, and self‑determination, the Self‑Advocates promote inclusion, respect, and equitable opportunities for all people with disabilities. Members collaborate to raise awareness, encourage positive change, and cultivate a strong network of peer support. Members frequently engage in local disability‑awareness efforts and occasionally take group trips, with staff available to provide support as needed.

Opportunity Enterprises’ Kiwanis Aktion Club is a social group for adults with disabilities who want to make a difference in our community.

Together, our members choose community service projects to champion and to work together to manage them.

Aktion Club officers are elected to help maintain the club. Officers learn leadership, and working together brings out the best in each participant. Helping others through their work encourages growth and develops collaboration and teamwork skills. Best of all, long-lasting friendships are made.
