Supported Living at OE empowers adults with disabilities to live as independently as possible while receiving the individualized assistance they need to thrive. With flexible supports tailored to each person, individuals gain confidence, build skills, and experience the freedom of living life on their own terms.

Who it is designed for:

Supported Living serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who want to live independently but benefit from ongoing support. Our compassionate staff provide assistance that ranges from weekly check-ins to 24-hour care, depending on each person’s needs. Whether someone lives alone or with roommates, in a house or apartment, our team helps with daily routines, personal care, and household tasks while encouraging residents to pursue their goals, connect with their communities, and enjoy the comfort of home.

What it is designed to do:

This program uses person-centered planning to guide Direct Support Professionals in helping residents achieve independence in areas such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, budgeting, and self-care. Supports are flexible and designed around each individual’s needs – whether that means assistance with transportation, medication management, or building social connections. Staff also encourage hobbies, outings, and community engagement, creating a balance of independence and support. For those who use adaptive equipment, accessibility is prioritized so that every person can fully engage in their home and community. And beyond the tasks, Direct Support Professionals build genuine relationships with residents – learning their likes and dislikes, and being there through both the good times and the hard times – so that Supported Living feels less like a program and more like family.

What to Expect

Contact BDS (Bureau of Developmental Services) and complete application.

State Employee will contact you to determine eligibility.

If approved, you will be referred to Case Management Company to complete a Person Center Planning and select services providers (you may request Opportunity Enterprises).

If approved, Notice of Action outlining specific services will be sent to individual and chosen providers and you can begin your new journey with OE services!
